About Us

Don’t Assume, Be Assured (DABA) is a pioneering non-profit health communication campaign spearheaded by a team of four final-year undergraduates from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University.

Our Mission

To empower Singaporeans (aged 40-49) to adopt the healthy habit of stool checking and equip them with the knowledge and skills to identify possible colorectal cancer symptoms.

Our Story

DABA was sparked by a random conversation that the team had about their families’ medical history, which uncovered that 3/4 had relatives who were diagnosed with colorectal cancer before. Call it coincidence, but this seemingly insignificant statistic is also reflective of the cancer’s pervasiveness here.

Additionally, with the number of cases rising each year - especially among younger adults, the team saw an urgent need to plug the knowledge gap in this untouched demographic and advocate for the importance of earlier detection.
